Mönchengladbach ‘skipped’ Borussia Dortmund

In the first match of the 18th round on Friday night, Borussia Mönchengladbach defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-2 (2-2) at home. Nico Elvedi scored two goals for Monchengladbach and one each by Ramy Bensebaini and Marcus Thuram.

For Borussia Dortmund, the double scorer was Erling Haaland. Mönchengladbach quickly took the lead in the 11th minute of the match with a goal by Nic Elvedi, but ten minutes later Haaland scored for 1-1. The young Norwegian put Borussia Dortmund in the lead in the 28th minute, but four minutes later Elvedi scored his second goal of the game for 2-2.

Bensebaini increased Mönchengladbach’s lead to 3-2 four minutes after the start of the second half, and Thuram in 78 minutes concluded the result.

Thanks to this victory, Mönchengladbach ‘skipped’ Borussia Dortmund in the standings and is now in fourth place with 31 points, while Dortmund is fifth with 29 points, Bayern is first with 39 points.
