Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says that he hopes that the Gunners’ Boxing Day win over Chelsea gives a boost to the club’s supporters. He admits that fans have been “suffering” during the club’s dismal Premier League run.

Entering a conflict with their London rivals, Gunners were without a win in seven Premier League matches. Having additionally suffered Carabao Cup removal by Manchester City at the beginning of the week.

But the Gunners ended that skid in outstanding style on Saturday. Cruising beyond Chelsea 3-1 following scores from Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka. Arteta hopes to lift the spirits of Arsenal fans once again.

“The result is the main thing today, we really needed that win. We have been unlucky and frustrated with our results in the last eight weeks so this was a big day for us,” Arteta said to BBC Sport.

The Gunners are now in the 14th place in the Premier League, they are 10 points from the top four. But Arteta is full of hope that this victory over Chelsea will be the Arsenals turning point. Arsenal has now proven to their fans that they are capable of taking down rivals and maybe even climbing the Premier League ladder.

Chelsea was shocked by the loss, especially as they lost 3 out of 4 league games. it wasn’t comfortable for the Chelsea boss Lampard, whose every move was looked by the main boss and investor – Roman Abramovich.
